FAAN suspends staff over another Max Air airside incident, commences investigation

FEDERAL Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has suspended one of its airfield officers  over a ground incident which occurred at the Murtala Muhammed  Airport today.

Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, General Manager Corporate Affairs, FAAN in a statement said thw officer was on duty following an averted near incident involving a Max Air aircraft from Abuja, which landed on Runway 18L, and a maintenance vehicle belonging to the Civil Department of the FAAN.

She said, FAAN has commenced full scale investigation into the incident, with a view to preventing future recurrence.

Recall last week, 11th December, 2021 another runway incident took place in Benin Airport where same Max Air with registration marks 5N-ADB while taxiing clipped its right wing into an Air Peace aircraft 5N-BUQ boarding Abuja bound passengers.

The hit damaged the left elevator of the aircraft thereby rendering the aircraft grounded and unserviceable.
