Captain Ruth Adebanwo, Chief Pilot of Ibom Air, delivered a motivating talk at the STEM Africa Fest (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Africa Festival) held at the Landmark Event Center in Lagos on July 20th, 2024.

Addressing a diverse audience of young enthusiasts and professionals in STEM fields, Captain Adebanwo spoke during a panel session themed “Empowering Girls in STEM Careers: Strategies for Success.” She encouraged them to strive for excellence in their chosen paths. She cited the importance of family support in nurturing young careers, emphasizing that a supportive environment plays a crucial role in personal and professional growth.

Captain Adebanwo challenged stereotypes. She urged attendees to break away from outdated beliefs that certain professions are exclusively for specific genders. She highlighted the importance of inclusivity and diversity in STEM, emphasizing that everyone, regardless of gender, should pursue their passions without limitations.

The STEM Africa Fest provided a platform for interactions, workshops, and exhibitions to foster innovation and creativity among young people interested in STEM disciplines. Ibom Air proudly supported the event, as education is one of its corporate social responsibility thrusts.
