NiMet Achieves 82.65% in ICPC Compliance Scorecard

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has recorded an impressive 82.65% score in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard conducted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The assessment, carried out between 19 May and 20 June 2025, positions the Agency 10th among 344 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) evaluated nationwide, reflecting a rating of “Substantial Compliance” in the ICPC Compliance Scorecard.

In addition, NiMet secured 11th place out of 356 MDAs on the ACTU Effectiveness Index (AEI) with a score of 82.50%, demonstrating a “Very Effective” status for its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit. These results underscore the Agency’s commitment to integrity, efficiency, and operational excellence across its organisational structures.

The ICPC evaluation framework measured performance across multiple pillars, including Management Culture and Structure, Financial Management Systems, Administrative Systems, and the effectiveness of Anti-Corruption and Transparency Units. The high rating in the Compliance Scorecard affirms the robustness of NiMet’s governance systems and the strength of its internal controls, which support transparency and accountability in day-to-day operations.

In a letter dated 29 December 2025, the ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, commended NiMet for implementing effective processes and organisational structures that foster integrity. The letter encouraged the Agency’s Management to sustain these standards, emphasising that continuous adherence to compliance frameworks will ensure consistency in future ratings and drive improved service delivery.

NiMet has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding national integrity principles while promoting transparency and professionalism in the execution of its mandate. The Agency is set to further strengthen its institutional processes and operational systems, ensuring that its high performance in the ICPC Compliance Scorecard is maintained and enhanced.
