Keyamo Honoured at NEAPS for Transformative Aviation Reforms

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred the Excellence in Aviation Sector Reforms Award on the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS). The ceremony, held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja on 7 December 2025, celebrated outstanding leadership and transformative achievements across Nigeria’s public sector. The award recognises Keyamo’s unwavering commitment to repositioning the country’s aviation sector for global competitiveness through strategic reforms.

According to a statement signed by Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, NEAPS is a flagship initiative of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF). The platform is designed to honour exceptional stewardship, encourage innovation in governance, and celebrate leaders who have significantly improved service delivery. By awarding Keyamo, the federal government highlighted his ability to implement policy changes that strengthened aviation safety, improved consumer protection, enhanced infrastructure, stimulated industry growth, and restored investor confidence.

Presenting the award plaque to the Minister on behalf of President Tinubu, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, commended Keyamo for driving reforms that positioned Nigeria’s aviation sector for long-term sustainability. He noted that the Minister’s initiatives had not only modernised regulatory frameworks but also fostered transparency, efficiency, and accountability across aviation institutions.

The 2025 NEAPS ceremony also recognised several other public service leaders for their exceptional contributions. Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, was honoured for Excellence in Public Communication and Transparency. Ola Olukoyede, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, received recognition for Integrity and Anti-Corruption Leadership, while Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), Chairman of NDLEA, was celebrated for Excellence in Drug Control Leadership and Public Safety Reform. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, was acknowledged for Excellence in Revenue and Customs Administration.

The NEAPS awards reflect President Tinubu’s commitment to promoting accountability, efficiency, and high performance across public institutions. The 2025 NEAPS ceremony attracted top government officials, captains of industry, members of the diplomatic corps, and key stakeholders, demonstrating the event’s prestige and its role in reinforcing a culture of excellence in Nigeria’s public service.
