In addition, Prof. Anosike received the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award for his visionary leadership in advancing digital transformation and promoting data-driven governance within the federal service framework.

“This honour reflects our deep commitment to transparency and innovation,” said Prof. Anosike. “NiMet remains dedicated to delivering accurate, accessible, and actionable meteorological data to support Nigeria’s climate resilience and national planning.”

These awards reaffirm NiMet’s reputation as one of Africa’s most digitally forward meteorological institutions.

Under Anosike’s leadership, the agency has adopted cutting-edge GovTech solutions to improve forecasting precision, strengthen early warning systems, and integrate artificial intelligence into climate data analysis.

NiMet’s initiatives in automation, open data access, and public engagement have become benchmarks for other MDAs seeking digital transformation across the federal ecosystem. The agency’s open data portal and AI-based early warning models have enhanced Nigeria’s preparedness against weather-related disasters, positioning NiMet as a key player in achieving the Federal Government’s e-Governance agenda.

The Nigeria GovTech Conference & Awards, spearheaded by BPSR, celebrates outstanding achievements in digital governance and innovation across all levels of government.

It convenes policymakers, technologists, private sector innovators, and civil society to share insights and showcase success stories that drive Nigeria’s transformation into a digitally empowered public service environment.

The event aims to encourage greater adoption of technology in public administration, foster transparency, and strengthen institutional efficiency.

Other distinguished awardees at the ceremony included His Excellency Malam Umar A. Namadi, Executive Governor of Jigawa State, and His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Executive Governor of Adamawa State, recognised for their strides in leveraging GovTech innovation for state-level development.

Through this recognition, NiMet’s work continues to inspire other federal agencies to embrace the digital shift reaffirming that GovTech is the cornerstone of Nigeria’s future public service transformation.
