The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced a temporary power supply shutdown at the International Terminal 2 (ITZ-2) of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The planned shutdown, scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024, between 1:00 am and 4:30 am, is necessary to replace the Bus Riser 11KVA high-tension panel. This critical electrical infrastructure upgrade underscores FAAN’s commitment to enhancing airport operations and ensuring uninterrupted safety standards.

During the temporary power supply shutdown, flight operations will proceed with minimal disruption. To mitigate passenger inconvenience, FAAN has taken steps to relocate Royal Air Maroc, whose flights operate during the affected hours, to International Terminal 1 (ITZ-1) for both check-in and arrival (parking) formalities. This proactive measure reflects FAAN’s dedication to maintaining efficient passenger facilitation throughout its terminals.

Moreover, airlines, security agencies, and concessionaires have been appropriately notified to ensure smooth coordination during the maintenance period. By maintaining clear communication with stakeholders, FAAN reinforces its commitment to operational excellence and passenger satisfaction. While acknowledging the potential inconvenience caused, FAAN emphasized that the safety and security of airport users remain paramount in its planning and execution processes.

Mrs. Obiageli Orah, who signed the statement, reaffirmed FAAN’s commitment to delivering a safe and efficient travel experience for all airport users. She added, “Our focus remains on sustaining world-class airport services while prioritizing the convenience of our passengers and stakeholders.”

With ongoing efforts like this temporary power supply shutdown, FAAN continues to prioritize infrastructure improvements, ensuring that Nigeria’s busiest airport operates at optimal capacity. Passengers are encouraged to arrive early and follow airport announcements to facilitate their travel plans during this period.
