XEJet has officially commenced the development of its aircraft hangar and MRO facility at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. This project underscores XEJet’s ambitious vision for enhancing the nation’s aviation capacity while contributing to regional integration. During the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, emphasized the government’s dedication to fostering aviation growth. He acknowledged the role of private operators like XEJet in advancing this mission, marking the occasion as a significant milestone.
Moreover, the groundbreaking of this MRO facility reflects the government’s strategic focus on establishing Nigeria as a regional aviation hub. Keyamo reiterated the administration’s priority of supporting indigenous aviation operators. According to him, this facility will not only attract operators from West Africa but also boost Nigeria’s economic growth. He further stated that the project’s success would hinge on collaboration among private players, regulatory agencies, and local financial institutions. He added, “This initiative is a vital step toward ensuring sustainability for local airlines while enhancing the quality of aviation services.”

XEJet unveiled its intention to build the largest Fixed Base Operation (FBO) and maintenance facility in Abuja in October 2024. This highlights its commitment to industry transformation. This new facility spans a 40,000 square meter area, designed to meet international standards while addressing the maintenance needs of an expanding aviation fleet. XEJet’s MD, Iza, confirmed that the facility would initially focus on basic line maintenance, but the company plans to scale up to advanced capabilities soon.
With the local aviation industry poised for growth, Iza confidently shared XEJet’s approach to sustaining operations. He emphasized the facility’s capacity to service its growing fleet of 11 aircraft, ensuring self-reliance and readiness for external opportunities. Transitioning from internal operations to wider market services, XEJet aims to attract global recognition for its engineering excellence. “Once we build the required capacity,” Iza explained, “we will extend our services to meet increasing demand across the region.”
