Ibom Air has permanently banned an unruly passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson, from its services. Unruly Passengers. This decision follows a shocking incident where she assaulted crew members and airport security on a Uyo–Lagos flight.

The incident began before takeoff in Uyo when Emmanson was asked to switch off her mobile phone. She refused to follow the standard safety procedure. ICAO Manual Doc 10117

It wasn’t until a fellow passenger intervened and switched the phone off that the situation was initially diffused. This prompted a verbal tirade from her, though the flight eventually departed as scheduled.

Upon landing in Lagos, the situation escalated dramatically. Emmanson waited for all other passengers to leave the aircraft.

She then confronted the purser who had given her the instruction earlier. The passenger proceeded to physically assault the unsuspecting crew member.

Emmanson tore off her wig, threw her glasses to the floor, and used her footwear to strike her multiple times. A second cabin crew member who tried to intervene was also slapped.

The situation became even more dangerous when Emmanson attempted to remove a fire extinguisher. This could have been used as a weapon, potentially causing significant damage and grounding the aircraft.

The pilot-in-command had already alerted airport security. However, before they arrived, the purser bravely prevented the passenger from leaving the plane, as seen in a viral video.

When Ibom Air’s security personnel arrived, the passenger’s aggression continued. She lashed out violently at them as well.

Emmanson had to be forcefully restrained and removed from the aircraft. Even on the ground, she continued her assault, hitting a ground supervisor.

She was eventually taken into custody by FAAN security and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.

Unruly passenger Emmanson is now permanently restricted from flying with Ibom Air. The airline has submitted a full report on the incident to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

Ibom Air emphasizes its commitment to the safety of its passengers, crew, and equipment. The airline states that such behavior will be met with the strongest possible response, including legal action.
