Four immigration officers lost their lives, and seven are receiving treatment after a ghastly accident near Kano, Nigeria.
During a press briefing at NIS Headquarters in Abuja, it was revealed that survivors are being treated at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
The NIS statement conveyed, “Four personnel lost their lives; a deeply distressing moment for all of us in the Nigeria Immigration Service.”
The service expressed prayers for the swift recovery of the seven officers undergoing treatment.
Amid the tragic incident, the NIS prioritized informing and supporting the families of the deceased before addressing the media.
Acting CGI Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju ordered an immediate investigation to understand the accident’s cause and implement preventive measures.
All NIS Commands will fly the flag at half-mast for seven days, observing a three-day mourning period. Also, she asked for respect for the privacy of the affected families as they navigate loss.
