The Federal Government of Nigeria has signed a landmark agreement with Airbus, strengthening aviation development through structured technical support among others. The partnership focuses on infrastructure growth, skills development, and long-term aerospace sustainability across the country.
The deal was signed during a high-level visit to Toulouse, France, led by the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, alongside senior aviation officials. The agreement is designed to reposition Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem for stronger global competitiveness.
Technical Support
At the heart of the agreement is extensive technical support from Airbus. This includes aviation market intelligence, crew training, maintenance training, flight operations consulting, and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) advisory services. These inputs are expected to improve airline efficiency, safety, and operational reliability across Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The Honourable Minister, Festus Keyamo SAN, emphasised the strategic importance of the partnership. He stated:

In addition to operational and technical support, Airbus will facilitate direct engagement between its experts and Nigerian students. According to global aviation projections, Africa will require nearly 1,490 new aircraft by 2044. It will also need tens of thousands of pilots, engineers, and cabin crew to support rising air travel demand.
