Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC’s Kano station has achieved significant recognition, SAHCO Kano Station re-certification. The station received re-certification by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and earned the British Airways Punctuality Award for its exceptional professionalism and seamless ground handling services during the first quarter of 2024.

ISAGO Re-certification

IATA issued the SAHCO Kano Station re-certification after it passed the ISAGO Safety Audit conducted on the company in Kano. ISAGO is an aviation-specific audit for the global oversight of ground handling service providers (GHSPs). The audit standards cover Organization and Management (ORM), Load Control (LOD), Passenger and Baggage Handling (PAB), Aircraft Handling and Loading (HDL), Aircraft Ground Movement (AGM), and Cargo and Mail Handling (CGM).

Importantly, ISAGO focuses on the standardization of operational procedures and management. This standardization increases harmonization of best practices among ground handling stakeholders. By earning this re-certification, SAHCO’s Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport station continues to model its operations on ISAGO standards. This demonstrates SAHCO’s commitment to operating according to globally accepted industry best practices.

Furthermore, SAHCO has pledged to its clients, both current and prospective, that it will continually provide quality and efficient Passenger, Ramp, and Cargo Handling Services. These services are aligned with best practices and the highest international standards. The ISAGO audit promotes safe ground operations and understanding of high-risk areas within ground operations. It eliminates redundant audits from airlines, promoting a uniform audit process and harmonized standards that improve aviation ground handling quality.

British Airways Punctuality Award

Meanwhile, the British Airways Punctuality Award highlights SAHCO’s commitment to professionalism, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Hellen O’Connor, British Airways Regional General Manager for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific, congratulated SAHCO for achieving punctuality targets. She emphasized the importance of safety and punctuality in aviation, commending SAHCO for meeting the Adjusted Closure target of 96% monthly.

Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, the Managing Director/CEO of SAHCO PLC, expressed her elation and gratitude to British Airways for recognizing SAHCO’s commitment to excellence.
