A major milestone for Onedot Aviation. The maintenance company has officially completed its inaugural two-year Check for a CRJ 200 aircraft belonging to XeJet. Onedot Aviation
The record-breaking feat, conducted at the company’s Lagos hangar, is a first in Nigeria.  This accomplishment marks Onedot Aviation’s first major maintenance on this aircraft type since receiving expanded approval from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s (NCAA) in February 2025.
The aircraft maintenance involved a detailed check at Onedot’s Lagos hangar facility. This included major structural components, system evaluations, and cabin refurbishments. These confirm the company’s readiness to provide base maintenance for Bombardier Challenger and CRJ Series aircraft.
The aircraft completed its test flight on August 21, 2025, and has received its Certificate
of Release to Service (CRS). This marks a turning point for Onedot Aviation in Nigeria’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) ecosystem.

A milestone for local MRO

Chief Executive Officer Captain Dotun Henry Ogunyemi praised the team for delivering high-quality work on XeJet’s aircraft. He said the successful completion reflected both technical competence and vision.
“This maintenance on XeJet’s CRJ 200 is not just a milestone for Onedot but for the entire Nigerian aviation sector. The check took three weeks, during which our team carried out detailed systems inspection, cabin upgrades, and reliability checks. Completing it in record time without compromising quality proves our readiness for more complex assignments.”

Long-term vision and industry impact

Captain Ogunyemi emphasized that the company’s long-term vision is to become a recognized maintenance powerhouse in Africa. He said reducing capital flight is central to Onedot Aviation’s mission.
“With Onedot, we are building from the beginning, steadily proving our capabilities. Our long-term focus is to reduce capital flight by ensuring Nigerian operators no longer need to take their aircraft abroad for checks we can competently do here. This is how we will grow into a true maintenance powerhouse.”
He further noted that the company’s expanded NCAA approval gives operators confidence in choosing a trusted local MRO partner.
“Our NCAA approval to handle Bombardier Challenger and CRJ aircraft ensures operators can save cost, reduce downtime, and build confidence in homegrown capacity. We are determined to position Onedot as a go-to center for business jets and regional aircraft in West Africa.”

Strengthening Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem

Before the new approval, Onedot Aviation specialized in Wheels and Brakes, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), battery maintenance, and sheet metal repairs.
Its expanded Operational Specifications (Ops Specs) now cover full base maintenance for Bombardier Challenger and CRJ series aircraft.
Industry experts describe this as a significant advancement for Nigeria’s MRO base. It reduces dependence on foreign facilities while boosting confidence in local technical capacity.
A Lagos-based aviation consultant noted that the achievement “closes a critical gap in Nigeria’s maintenance chain and gives operators new options for reliability and cost savings.” NCAA Ops Spec

Onedot Aviation Looking ahead

With this milestone, Onedot Aviation positions itself as a trusted partner for both business jets and regional aircraft in West Africa.
Stakeholders say its progress underlines the growing potential of Nigeria’s aviation maintenance sector.
By expanding capabilities and reducing reliance on foreign MROs, Onedot Aviation is not only supporting XeJet but also advancing Nigeria’s broader aviation growth strategy.
