The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has commenced its investigation into the tragic tanker explosion in Majia town. This petrol tanker explosion claimed over 150 lives and left many severely injured, according to reports from the incident. The explosion occurred when a petrol tanker lost control and spilled fuel, causing a massive inferno. Residents gathered to scoop fuel from the tanker before it exploded, leading to devastating consequences. The NSIB quickly deployed a go-team of experts to investigate the cause of the accident and the resulting explosion. These experts will assess the circumstances to identify causal factors and issue safety recommendations. The team’s findings will focus on preventing future occurrences of such tragedies across Nigeria.

Captain Alex Badeh Jr., Director General of the NSIB, stated, “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this devastating accident.” He emphasized that safety lessons must be learned from this incident to prevent similar disasters in the future. The NSIB will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses and evidence is gathered from the scene. In the meantime, citizens are reminded of the dangers associated with scooping fuel from tankers involved in accidents. The public is urged to steer clear of such incidents for their safety.
