NIS Enhances Border Surveillance with 30 NNPC Donated Operational Vehicles, New Measures

Comptroller General of Immigration Service Kemi Nandap reveals a rejig of the Border Corps architecture as part of efforts to enhance border security. She aims to include Sector Commanders to carry out consistent surveillance and patrol of our border.

During the commissioning of thirty (30) operational vehicles donated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation ( NNPC) Limited in Abuja, Nandap highlighted the significance of this move as a tangible effort to bolster border security. 

According to her, the move is: “a tangible effort to enhance the security and integrity of our nation’s borders”.

She stressed the imperative role of effective surveillance and patrol in safeguarding national sovereignty and citizen safety. 

Additionally, Nandap underscored the link between surveillance and preserving economic prosperity while facilitating safe migration.

“The acquisition of these vehicles underscores our unwavering commitment to border security and our determination to stay one step ahead of those who seek to undermine our laws and threaten our safety. 

“With enhanced mobility, our border patrol teams will be better equipped to detect and deter illegal activities, including smuggling of migrants, trafficking in persons and other transnational crimes.” She said.

She expressed gratitude to Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for steadfast support in achieving efficient migration management and border security.
