Comptroller General of Immigration Kemi Nandap advanced Nigeria’s Border Security and Migration agenda by continuing engagements with Dutch port security agencies. Nandap, on day two of her working visit, aims to strengthen Nigeria’s borders through international partnership and technology adoption. Her working visit to the Netherlands commenced February 18, 2025.

A statement signed by ACI Akin Alabi, Service Public Relations Officer, revealed that Nandap visited Rotterdam Seaport. She met with Dutch Marine Police officials and observed passenger clearance procedures. A presentation on the Advance Passenger Information (API) System highlighted its role in pre-screening travelers, improving border control, and enhancing migration data exchange.

The delegation also visited Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport, where they engaged with Royal Dutch Marechaussee (Dutch Border Police) officials, including the Brigade Commander. They observed live operations involving passenger clearance and the processing of forced returns at the airport.

A key highlight was an exclusive tour of the Marechaussee’s Document Fraud Lab. A presentation on advanced document fraud detection techniques provided insights into the latest technologies and best practices for identifying fraudulent travel documents. This is a critical aspect of Border Security management.

These engagements reinforce the Nigeria Immigration Service’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships, adopting cutting-edge technologies, and enhancing operational capacity in Border Security and Migration.
