The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo, has declared accelerated aviation growth a top priority for Nigeria’s economic transformation. Speaking at the 14th Nigeria Aviation Awards (NIGAV), he emphasized the industry’s role in driving national progress. The event, held at the NIGAV Centre in Lagos, gathered key stakeholders to celebrate excellence.  

Keyamo, represented by DGCA, Captain Chris Najomo,  highlighted the government’s push for accelerated aviation growth under the theme “Foundation for Accelerated Aviation Growth (FAAG).”He stressed that aviation remains vital for trade and regional integration. Additionally, he noted Nigeria’s potential to lead Africa’s air transport expansion.  

“Aviation is a fast-growing sector crucial for economic inclusion,” Keyamo stated. The government is investing heavily in infrastructure to support this vision. Public-private partnerships are also being encouraged to strengthen operations.  

Furthermore, Keyamo revealed plans to enhance regulatory efficiency. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will receive stronger backing for improved oversight. Airport reforms are also underway to boost service delivery. “We are recalibrating agencies for better performance,” he added.  

The Minister urged industry players to collaborate for sustainable progress. He aligned the sector’s goals with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. By 2025, he expects even greater achievements in aviation safety and expansion.  

Over 60 organizations and individuals received awards for outstanding contributions. Categories included airlines, airports, and service providers. A unique “King and Queen of the Air” cabin crew contest also took place. This initiative promotes inflight excellence and industry unity.  

Keyamo commended NIGAV for fostering innovation and rewarding best practices. He reiterated support for initiatives driving accelerated aviation growth. The awards, organized by FCI International Limited, remain a benchmark for industry standards.  

In his closing remarks, Keyamo congratulated winners and reaffirmed government commitment. The sector’s progress, he said, depends on collective effort. With continued investment, Nigeria’s aviation industry is poised for global recognition. 

The NIGAV Awards continue to spotlight Nigeria’s aviation achievements. As reforms take effect, stakeholders remain optimistic about future prospects. The government’s proactive approach signals a new era for the industry.
