NCAA confirms Omni Blu’s conflict of interest resolution

[dropcap]C[/dropcap]aptain Musa Nuhu, Director General of Civil Aviation, confirms that Omni Blu has submitted documentation to address the conflict of interest issues with one of its financiers.

Engineer Akin Olateru, the major financier and Director General of Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau, is reported to have proven his resignation from the organization.

The NCAA, on October 3, 2023, suspended the airline’s variation process, seeking additional clarifications.

Nuhu emphasizes that working for the government does not erase individuals’ previous lives and acknowledges, “It is unfortunate that the NCAA suspended their process.”

He further explains, “One of the Directors, DG NSIB Engineer Akin Olateru, is a shareholder, and this is something he had before he came to the Service.”

Responding to NCAA’s conflict concerns, Nuhu notes, “They were asked to respond, and they responded. He provided all the documents, documented proof of his resignation.”

Olateru’s declared interest and documentation confirming no conflict of interest have been submitted, including a resignation letter confirmed by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). However, legal processes are pending.

Nuhu stresses the importance of Omni Blu going through the process to prevent future declarations of similar issues.
