GUNMEN on Saturday afternoon attacked the VHF omnidirectional range (VOR) site at the Kaduna airport killing at least one guard and causing disruption to flight operations.
This attack is coming just year after bandits stormed the staff quarters of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at Kaduna airport, causing panic and melee.
And although a delayed Azman flight has eventually taken off after the military stepped in to repel the bandits in a gun battle, their action had already prevented smooth operations.
Acting Managing director of NAMA, Mr. Mathew Pwajok who spoke to our reporter confirmed the incident and sadly the death of a personnel, he however could not confirm the status of the installations as the area was still under heavy military presence
He said, “Bandits attacked our VHF omnidirectional range (VOR) equipment site at Kaduna Civil airport around noon our security man attached to the equipment was shot, he later died from the gunshot wound.
