LAAC’s experienced reportage essential component for Nigeria’s aviation successes-DG NCAA

DIRECTOR General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Musa Nuhu has commended the contributions of the media with regards reportage of the aviation industry stressing that the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) has done well  to illuminate the industry and giving better understanding of its working

Captain Nuhu made this known  at the opening ceremony of the League of Airports ad Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) training at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) which will hold between 10th-14th January, 2022 where he said that training is a capital project for the regulator to ensure its personnel are exposed so as to maintain and enhance their competence

According to him, the media, particularly LAAC has provided platform which has helped in projecting activities and laudable achievements of NCAA to the public vis-à-vis our oversight functions and has shown  a deep knowledge of aviation and its goings-o

He said, “…you will agree with me that the media is critical to the growth of global aviation. The press is the Fourth Estate of the Realm. In other words, the fourth arm of government. This reference was derived from both explicit capacity of advocacy and implicit ability to report issues. You have been with us in this journey and you have been worthy partners. Every success story about aviation in Nigeria cannot be written without the contributions of all of yo

“One of your many contributions is the LAAC Annual Conference which has provided, and still providing veritable platform over the years for stakeholders to converge and dissect pertinent contemporary aviation issues with a view to proffering workable solutions that will move the industry forward. In my opinion, this training is an indication of that spirit of camaraderie that had existed (still existing) between NCAA and LAA

Also speaking at the opener,  Chairman of LAAC, Mr. Olusegun Koiki expressed the League’s gratitude to the NCAA and management of NCAT  as well as  various aviation agencies in Nigeria for their contributions towards the success of this programme over the year

He said,”There is no doubt that the volume of knowledge gathered from the training under this programme has significantly helped us as aviation media practitioners and journalists to disseminate aviation information more professionally and accurately amidst technological advancements in application of safety, security, economics and regulation of the sector

“I am confident that this year’s training will further empower us to play our role as the fourth estate of the realm and in advancing the course of the industry

He applauded the management of NCAT for the visible drastic improvements that have been recorded between  February 2020 and now stating that due to the Covid-19 the League  could not embark on the course in 2021
