Kwara State Considers Engineering, Cabin Crew Courses at IAC

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq announced plans to establish a School of Engineering and Cabin Crew courses at the International Aviation College (IAC), Kwara. The state government is about to sign an MoU between IAC and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria.

Dr. Mary Ronke Arinde, Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, disclosed this at the LAAC 2023 training, representing the governor. She said, “The State Government is considering the Management of IAC’s request for the establishment of the School of Engineering. This will boost the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the College and position the School to access Tetfund intervention.”

She continued, “Other requests from the College, like the establishment of short courses such as cabin crew training, are also receiving the State Government’s attention.” Engineering and cabin crew courses at IAC.

Dr. Arinde added that IAC currently hosts the Nigerian Army for training, along with 40 flight dispatchers. She mentioned, “The Chief of Army Staff has sent ten Army Officers to IAC, Ilorin for Private Pilot License (PPL) Training. The College is determined to complete the training within the stipulated six months.”

The Army Officers’ Training runs concurrently with training forty Flight Dispatchers, nominees from the sixteen Local Governments in Kwara State.

Dr. Arinde said the State created an environment for collaboration with NCAT to promote the Aviation Sector.

IAC, Ilorin, and NCAT, Zaria, have concluded arrangements for an MoU. The Management of IAC will soon head to Abuja or Zaria to sign the MoU with NCAT.”
