Kalabash54, a fintech travel solutions company under the Wakanow Group, has partnered with Outpayce from Amadeus to integrate its flagship product, Pay Small Small, into the Amadeus Xchange Payment Platform (XPP).
The move, announced on Wednesday, is expected to give Pay Small Small greater visibility within the global travel ecosystem and expand access to flexible payment options for more travellers.
It further highlights growing innovation in travel payments as airlines and technology providers push for solutions that ease cost pressures on travellers.

Pay Small Small Integration Expands Reach

Launched in 2022 with a select number of partner airlines, Pay Small Small allows passengers to secure flights with an initial deposit and spread the balance over a period ranging from 24 hours to six months.
With this integration, airlines already connected to Amadeus, as well as those using other industry platforms, can now offer this flexible payment solution to customers worldwide.

In a corporate statement from its Lekki office, Chief Executive Officer of Kalabash54, Mr. Ladi Ojuri, said the integration underscores the company’s mission to make travel more inclusive.
“At the core of this partnership is our commitment to customers, delivering solutions that anticipate their needs,” he said.
“This reimagines how travel is experienced, aligning with our mission to break barriers and open up flexible travel options to more people around the world.”
Ojuri added that by harnessing technology and innovation, the company is setting a new standard for payment flexibility in aviation.

Strategic Partnership with Amadeus Outpayce

Describing the development as a milestone, Kalabash54 said the collaboration demonstrates how fintech and aviation can work together to improve affordability.
By integrating Pay Small Small into the Amadeus XPP system, airlines can now differentiate their offerings, while customers gain more control over how they book and finance their journeys. Wakanow Direct NDC access
Head of Growth at Kalabash54, Mr. Gbenga Owoeye, highlighted the broader implications of the partnership.
“This collaboration will allow us to scale our payment solution across continents,” he explained.
“It reflects how technology and strategic partnerships are reshaping the travel industry, with payment flexibility now emerging as a critical innovation for both airlines and travellers.”
Owoeye emphasised that flexible payment is no longer a luxury, but a key driver of choice for customers.

Transforming Travel Through Flexible Financing

The introduction of Pay Small Small has already changed the travel financing landscape in Nigeria, with more passengers opting for instalment-based payment models to manage rising travel costs.
With its integration into Amadeus, the product is expected to benefit airlines by reducing booking abandonment while offering travellers increased convenience.
Travel industry experts note that innovations like Pay Small Small represent a shift in how technology is deployed to ease financial barriers in travel.
Flexible payment, they argue, can enhance passenger loyalty and help airlines adapt to a competitive market where affordability and convenience are major drivers of demand.

Industry Impact and Future Outlook

The Kalabash54–Amadeus Outpayce partnership signals a growing trend where fintech meets aviation to create new value chains.
By embedding Pay Small Small into Amadeus XPP, Kalabash54 positions itself not only as a Nigerian pioneer in travel financing but also as a global player shaping the next era of customer-focused travel technology.
“Flexibility in payments is no longer a nice-to-have but an essential requirement,” Owoeye said. “With this partnership, we are driving a new era of travel financing that prioritises convenience and inclusion.”
As airlines and technology providers explore innovations to ease cost pressures, this integration is expected to serve as a blueprint for future collaborations across the travel ecosystem.
