Dr. Ibrahim Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has lauded the impactful reforms at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). He described the Managing Director/CEO, Olubunmi Kuku, as a “round peg in a round hole,” praising her leadership for driving operational efficiency and aligning Nigeria’s aviation sector with global best practices.

During his inaugural visit to FAAN, Dr. Kana expressed confidence in the authority’s ongoing transformation under Kuku’s strategic management. Moreover, he emphasized the critical role of strong leadership in enhancing service delivery, noting that FAAN’s progress exemplifies the government’s commitment to developing the aviation sector.

Dr. Kana also highlighted the visionary leadership of the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN. He commended the minister’s proactive policies and strategic direction, which have created an enabling environment for innovation and growth. According to him, Keyamo’s initiatives, including fostering public-private partnerships, have therefore strengthened the sector’s foundation for sustainable development.

Furthermore, Dr. Kana urged FAAN to prioritize staff training and capacity building. “Aviation thrives on innovation and expertise,” he stated, underscoring the need for a sustainable training framework to equip personnel with the skills needed for global competitiveness. His call reflects the sector’s increasing focus on workforce development as a driver of long-term success.

The visit also reaffirmed the collaborative relationship between the Ministry of Aviation and FAAN.
