The National Assembly confirmed Captain Chris Ona Najomo as the substantive Director General of Civil Aviation. This decision ends all speculation about the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s leadership.
On February 5, the Acting Director General received unanimous endorsement from the Senate and House committees on Aviation. They instructed him to take a bow after his screening, signaling their approval.
Najomo has served in various capacities within the aviation sector. Since December 13, 2023, he acted as Director General, having previously led the Directorate of Public Relations and Consumer Protection. Before that, he was Director of Air Transport Regulation.
On January 24, 2005, President Bola Tinubu nominated Najomo for the role, forwarding his name to the National Assembly for confirmation. With over 40 years of aviation experience, Najomo has worked with Okada Air, Capital Airlines, and Arik Air.
