The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has reviewed thirty-one disciplinary cases involving officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), approving various actions to uphold discipline and accountability.

According to a statement e-signed by Service Public Relations Officer, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, the review was conducted by the Board Disciplinary and General-Purpose Committee (BDGPC) at its sitting on July 11, 2025. The Committee examined offences ranging from serious misconduct to criminal conspiracy.

Out of the thirty-one disciplinary cases considered, eight officers were dismissed from Service for gross misconduct and violation of NIS regulations. Five officers were compulsorily retired for misconduct, while eight others were demoted by one rank after a thorough review of their records and actions.

In addition, five officers received written warnings, while two appeals against dismissal were rejected due to lack of merit. However, one officer was reinstated following a successful appeal, and two others were exonerated after the Board found no credible evidence to support the charges.

“The disciplinary cases actions demonstrate the Board’s zero tolerance for unethical conduct and its commitment to fairness,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, the CDCFIB confirmed the dismissal of two junior personnel, Aliyu Usman (AII) and Chukwu Nancy Ngozi (CIA), after internal disciplinary proceedings found them guilty of criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, and kidnapping. Their cases, concluded on April 14 and September 4, 2025, reinforced the Board’s determination to cleanse the system.

Under the leadership of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who chairs the CDCFIB, and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, the Service reaffirmed its resolve to maintain professional standards across all ranks.

The Board emphasised that all disciplinary cases will be enforced without fear or favour, in strict compliance with extant rules and service regulations.
