As the last minute shakeup in the aviation industry continues to gather momentum, there are alleged plans to redeploy certain directors to be Chief executives of agencies which have not gone down well with stakeholders.
Already, a major change has transpired at the weekend with the change of guard at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria ( FAAN) as Kabir Mohammed was announced Managing Director, however other changes are still unravelling.
Many stakeholders equally have decried the non confirmation of the current acting Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency ( NAMA), Mr. Mathew Pwajok who was appointed in acting capacity in February 2022 and has since exceeded the six(6) months acting stewardship of the agency.
Information reaching NigerianFLIGHTDECK is that the ag.MD of the Airspace Managers, has been removed and replaced by the Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, Engr. Tayib Adetunji Odunowo and the news is awaiting announcement.
Meanwhile, another group under aegis of ‘Mission to Redeem Aviation’ revealed that a situation whereby directors and heads of agencies were catapulted into various agencies was uncalled for and retrogressive saying, it does not give room for human development
The group called on the outgoing minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika to appoint senior directors in aviation parastatals to take over the leadership of their agencies
The body’s coordinator, Comrade Fidelis Anazie in a statement urged the minister to to look at various agencies such as, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology and Nigerian Airspace Management Agency and appoint most senior management staff to be chief executive officers.
The body said it was the time to right the wrongs of the past by making laudable appointments in the aviation industry stressing that most of these appointments were long overdue.
Part of the statement reads ‘We have been watching with keen interest the way appointments were being made in our highly rated sector but we are yet to get it right. Since this appointments are long overdue, we advise Senator Sirika to pick from agencies and appoint them without delay and without looking outside”
The body said there were rumours of appointments in some parastatals but not officially released hence they were advising him to save the industry with the right appointment this time.
