SOME airlines have started feeling the impact of the latest scarcity of jet fuel and have equally advised that delays may be inevitable due to the closure of the domestic runway for fixing of Air Field Lighting
Management of Ibom Air today announced that its passengers will experience flight delays due to the closure of the domestic runway (Runway 18L) at Murtala Mohammed Airport for the next 3 months and the current serious scarcity of aviation fuel.
The signed statement from the airline indicated that it would continue to mitigate the impact caused both factors but appealed for patience from passengers.
The statement signed July 15, 2022 read,”The Management of Ibom Air regrets to inform the general public and our customers in particular, that despite our best efforts, our passengers will experience flight delays this period, due to two critical factors:
1. The closure of the domestic runway (Runway 18L) at Murtala Mohammed Airport for the next 3 months.
2. The current serious scarcity of aviation fuel.
“Both factors have resulted in our operations being delayed more often than not.
“Ibom Air will continue to invest our best efforts to ensure that we minimize the impact of these factors on our flight schedule.
Also Dana Air in a separate statement has expressed dismay at the current fuel crisis stating that it envisages delays of future flights.
The statement on its social media handles read, “Due to the prevailing fuel scarcity in some airports around the
country, we envisage slight delays in the coming days.
“While we are doing our best to mitigate the expected delays, we shall keep you informed of any changes in our schedule.”
