Air Peace has been assessed on par with global aviation giants like British Airways, KLM, and Delta regarding global safety standards. The recognition underscores Air Peace’s commitment to maintaining international safety standards, reinforcing its position as a leading airline in the region. The airline’s efforts in safety are validated by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which continuously supports global aviation practices and regulatory standards.

Dr. Samson Fatokun, IATA’s Area Manager for West and Central Africa, highlighted this achievement during the presentation of Air Peace’s sixth consecutive International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Certification. He emphasized that the safety standards evaluated during the IOSA process are consistent across all airlines, including global players like British Airways, KLM, and Delta. “The standards that are given are the same as the British Airways, KLM, Delta. They are all assessed the same way,” Dr. Fatokun explained, underlining the fairness and thoroughness of the safety audits.

Dr. Fatokun commended Air Peace for surpassing the rigorous IOSA audit, demonstrating exceptional process management and expertise. “When you’re an airline in the first world, people expect you to do things and work, but when you come from Africa, they expect you to do more,” he remarked. The IOSA certification reflects the airline’s persistent focus on maintaining safety standards, a feat made more impressive by the heightened expectations of operating from Africa, particularly Nigeria.

The IATA representative praised Air Peace for its extraordinary achievements in just a decade of operations. He pointed out that its inclusion in the IOSA registry is a significant accomplishment, affirming the airline’s dedication to safety, operational excellence, and professionalism. “This milestone is not just a victory for the airline but a pride for Nigeria,” Dr. Fatokun said, emphasizing that Air Peace is setting a high bar for local carriers worldwide.

IATA, representing over 340 airlines globally, maintains that safety is aviation’s top priority, measured not only by accident statistics but also by adherence to certified processes and standards. “Safety is not cheap, accidents are costlier, but with the right investment, safety can be guaranteed,” Dr. Fatokun explained, stressing the importance of investing in robust safety measures. The IOSA certification proves that Air Peace operates under processes certified by external auditors, guaranteeing adherence to global safety standards.

In conclusion, the airline’s sixth IOSA certification is a major milestone, underscoring its deep-rooted safety culture and commitment to continuous improvement. This achievement not only raises the bar for safety within African aviation but also inspires other carriers to strive for similar excellence. As Air Peace continues to set the standard for safety, its success is a testament to the airline’s unwavering dedication to operational excellence.
