Air Peace deploys aircraft to evacuate stranded Nigerians from Ukraine

AIR PEACE says it has deployed its aircraft to evacuate Nigerians who are stranded in Europe as a result of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

The airline will be evacuating the first batch of Nigerians since the war broke out.

The aircraft departed Nigeria at 2:20am today, Thursday, March 3, 2022, for Warsaw, Poland.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government engaged Air Peace and another airline to evacuate over 2000 Nigerian nationals from neighbouring countries such as Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia.

In a statement signed by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Gabriel Adidas Nigeria has about 650 people in Hungary, 350 people in Poland, 940 in Romania and 150 in Slovakia.

Air Peace was granted approval to airlift 364 from Poland and 360 from Hungary.
