SolitAir has launched freight services to Ghana, expanding its growing African network to 17 countries through a new connection with Accra International Airport.
The UAE-based cargo carrier announced the new service on September 8, 2026, adding Ghana to its expanding network of African markets. The new route connects Accra with Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), SolitAir’s Dubai hub, over a distance of about 6,250 kilometres.
Ghana becomes the carrier’s 17th African market, strengthening its position in West Africa after recently commencing operations to Nigeria. The expansion also gives businesses greater access to a dedicated cargo connection between the United Arab Emirates and one of West Africa’s key commercial markets.
SolitAir Freight Services Reach 17 African Markets
With Ghana now added, SolitAir’s African network covers 21 destinations across 17 countries. The carrier says this gives it coverage of more than 30 per cent of countries across the continent.
Its African destinations and markets now include the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Libya, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Somaliland, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, the Ghana freight services positions Accra as an important link in SolitAir’s growing West African network. Accra International Airport is managed by Ghana Airports Company Limited, which is responsible for facilitating aircraft, passenger, cargo and mail movements across Ghana’s airports.
The new freight services are expected to support trade flows between Ghana and the UAE, particularly for goods moving between West Africa and Middle Eastern markets.
Founder Highlights Ghana’s High-Demand Trade Corridor
Founder and CEO of SolitAir, Hamdi Osman, described the Ghana launch as an important milestone in the airline’s freight services expansion strategy.
“The launch of our Ghana service marks a significant milestone in our expansion strategy,” Osman said.
He highlighted Accra’s growing role as an aviation and cargo hub, alongside Ghana’s sizeable consumer and trade market. According to Osman, the airport handles between 40,000 and 50,000 metric tonnes of cargo annually and continues to record strong growth.
“The route will seamlessly connect Middle Eastern logistics networks with West Africa’s thriving export market for agricultural and valuable goods,” he said.
Osman added that the service would also respond to growing demand for inbound international imports. Therefore, SolitAir expects the route to support both export and import activity between Ghana and the UAE.
The carrier’s Ghana expansion comes as demand grows for reliable cargo connections serving African markets that have historically had limited dedicated middle-mile capacity.
Ghana Route Targets Gold, Food and Perishables
The 6,250-kilometre Accra-Dubai connection is positioned around Ghana’s major export sectors.
SolitAir said gold, foodstuff and perishables are among the commodities expected to benefit from the additional cargo capacity. The freight services also provide a direct link into the carrier’s Dubai World Central hub for onward movement across its wider international network.
The airline operates from a 20,440-square-metre logistics facility at Al Maktoum International Airport. The hub provides landside access for trucks and road feeder services, as well as direct airside access for faster cargo transfers.
In addition, the facility provides sea-air connectivity through Jebel Ali Port. This gives freight forwarders and other cargo customers another route for moving shipments into wider markets.
SolitAir Expands Fleet and Global Network
Beyond its African expansion, SolitAir has grown its global network to more than 60 destinations across more than 40 countries.
The carrier currently operates seven Boeing 737-800BCF freighters. Each aircraft has a cargo capacity of about 20 tonnes, while the airline is targeting a fleet of 20 aircraft by the end of 2027.
Furthermore, its cargo handling capabilities cover dangerous goods, pharmaceuticals, perishables, valuables, vulnerable cargo, oversized shipments and e-commerce consignments.
The Ghana launch therefore represents more than another destination for the carrier. It strengthens SolitAir’s West African footprint while connecting Ghanaian exporters and importers to the airline’s growing Dubai-based cargo network.
