The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched Operation Go Cashless, a landmark digital initiative in partnership with Paystack.
Beginning September 29, 2025, all payments at FAAN revenue points in Lagos and Abuja airports will be processed cashless. The policy covers access gates, car parks, and FAAN lounges. Travelers and airport users will now rely on contactless digital transactions for seamless, fast, and secure service delivery.
This cashless transformation marks FAAN’s response to global aviation trends. It ensures efficiency, strengthens revenue assurance, and enhances customer experience while phasing out the use of physical cash.
FAAN has stationed trained brand ambassadors across Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. These officials will guide travelers through the process, assist with onboarding, and answer passenger inquiries.
In addition, travelers can obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at designated access gates. After collection, users are encouraged to activate and fund the card immediately via the dedicated portal at www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng. Passengers can also make payments using digital links, USSD codes, and bank-issued cards. This ensures inclusivity for all categories of airport users.

Recall, the move toward a cashless airport ecosystem was first hinted at in June during FAAN’s 2025 Commercial and Business Development Stakeholders’ Engagement Forum.
At the event, Director of Commercial and Business Development, Ms. Adebola Agunbiade, confirmed the transition.
She explained that all revenue streams, from access gates to tenant payments, would shift to cashless systems.
“All revenue points, from access gates to tenant payments, will now be processed via cards, digital links, or USSD. Lagos and Abuja will pilot this rollout,” she disclosed.
Tenants and concessionaires were reminded of the mandatory use of FAAN’s Electronic Cash Register (ECRN). According to Ms. Agunbiade, enforcement will be stricter going forward to ensure compliance and transparency.
“These systems cost money and are essential for transparency. We’ll be increasing monitoring and compliance,” she emphasized.
The enforcement underscores FAAN’s commitment to blocking revenue leakages, improving accountability, and aligning with international best practices in airport management.
FAAN assured stakeholders that the rollout of Operation Go Cashless would not stop with Lagos and Abuja. The initiative will be expanded in phases to other airports nationwide.
The agency reiterated that this policy reflects Nigeria’s determination to digitize and modernize airport operations. In the long term, the strategy will improve customer convenience, strengthen data collection, and reduce delays caused by manual cash transactions.
By embracing this cashless shift, FAAN joins a global aviation movement toward secure, transparent, and customer-friendly airport systems.
