Suspected passengers baggage thief caught under conveyor belt at MMIA

One Fagbemi Ayo is in the firm clutches of the Nigeria Police  after being arrested by officers of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Aviation Security (AVSEC)  for theft of passengers baggage at the Line 2 Conveyor Belt at ‘D’ Departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).

Nigerianflightdeck.com learnt that the 42year old man used to work as a cleaner for Duraclean until 1992.

He was caught inside the line 2 conveyor belt by AVSEC officials led by one Mrs Owoh, Mrs Obi Odewusi, Mr Ekpe and Mr. Seyi while he was attempting to pilfer some baggage from the conveyor belt before he was discovered and taken from the hidden ditch under the conveyor belt to Tango City where he confessed of the crime.

The suspect was found with personal bags with perfumes, jewelries, phones and clothes

During investigation, he explained that he normally entered the airport through the departure entrance at 17:00hrs and there he would wait for airlines to start arriving and send baggage through the conveyor belt before he made his move.

Nigerianflightdeck.com learnt that the incident which took place on the 17th of June and the suspect has since been moved from Tango City where he was being held to the Beesam Police Station for further investigation.
