MainOne advocates effective regulation, clinches 3rd Wholesale Provider Award

MainOne has advocated strongly for more collaborative efforts by industry stakeholders and recommended effective regulatory models for shared infrastructure while promising strategic investments to enhance its network infrastructure and extend capabilities and reach across West Africa.

The connectivity and data center Solutions Company made this known as it clinched Telecoms Wholesale Provider of the Year Award at the 2016 African Information Technology and Telecoms Awards for the third time during the West African Telecoms Summit.

The company’s Business Executive for Ghana and Francophone West Africa, Kazeem Oladepo, who also participated on the keynote panel at the Telecoms Summit which focused on the outlook of broadband proliferation in West Africa, shared MainOne’s perspectives on critical strategies required to drive penetration, address challenges of access and affordability and the bottlenecks associated with meeting consumer demands for broadband.

He advocated strongly for more collaborative efforts by industry stakeholders and recommended effective regulatory models for shared infrastructure.

Mr. Oladepo was also on hand to receive the award expressed his delight with the recognition, saying, “Receiving the Telecom Wholesale Carrier of the Year Award for the third year is truly an honour. It means a great deal to us that the industry continues to recognize MainOne’s innovation and leadership in the telecommunications industry. We pledge to continue to make strategic investments to enhance our network infrastructure and extend our capabilities and reach across West Africa.”

MainOne beat three other operators to emerge as Africa’s Wholesale Carrier at the Awards, which was organised by Instinct Wave Media, and held at the Kempinski Hotel, Accra, Ghana.

Speakers at the event included regulators and executives from MainOne, the National Communications Authority, Ghana, Nigerian Communications Commission, Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria, and key players in West Africa’s telecommunications industry.

The West Africa Telecom Summit 2016 is the regional meeting point for senior leaders in the IT & Telecommunications industry. It is the foremost annual event for those with vested interest in enhancing the potential for ICT/Telecommunications to continue the process of creating value for all consumers, corporate bodies and government.
