Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, asserts the Government’s unwavering trust in the operational safety of Nigerian flag carriers on international routes.
Keyamo confirms Air Peace addressed all alleged safety violations at Gatwick Airport to the UK authorities’ satisfaction, ensuring compliance.
“Recent media reports on possible safety violations by Air Peace at Gatwick Airport, raised by UK Civil Aviation Authority, caught my attention.
“The Acting Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) adequately briefed me on the progress made. The UK authorities confirmed that they addressed and promptly closed the safety issues raised to their satisfaction.”
Keyamo however emphasizes Air Peace Airlines’ designation as Nigeria’s flag carrier on the London route, backed by full governmental support.
He states, “Government has full confidence in the continued safety of operations of all Nigerian flag carriers designated on different international routes, including Air Peace.
He further ensures ongoing support for local airlines on international routes, pledging necessary assistance and cooperation for their success. Keyamo concludes, “For clarity, the Nigerian Federal Government fully supports all local airlines designated on international routes with full backing.” Air Peace is no exception in this regard.”
Air Peace clarified that they addressed the ramp inspection issues over a month ago. The airline was surprised these issues resurfaced later.
