Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC has reaffirmed its dominance in aviation ground handling, winning the British Airways Safety and Punctuality Bronze Awards for its Lagos and Abuja stations in the first quarter of 2025.

This recognition underlines SAHCO’s consistent delivery of seamless, safe, and timely ground handling services. Both stations surpassed expectations by meeting British Airways’ rigorous Adjusted Departure Closure (aDC) target of 96% every month within the quarter.

Regional General Manager for British Airways, Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific, Hellen O’Connor, applauded SAHCO’s operational reliability. “Safety and punctuality are pillars of the aviation industry. We congratulate SAHCO in Lagos and Abuja for achieving our Q1 punctuality goals,” she stated.

The award highlights SAHCO’s growing international credibility. Its long-standing track record includes a diverse collection of accolades. In 2024, Lagos earned Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum distinctions, while Abuja secured the Bronze award. This performance is seen as a result of strategic focus and unrelenting commitment to service standards.

SAHCO’s Managing Director and CEO, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, expressed her gratitude for the honour. “We are delighted to receive this recognition from British Airways. SAHCO remains dedicated to providing world-class ground handling services powered by cutting-edge, eco-friendly equipment. These awards reflect the commitment and hard work of our team,” she noted.

Beyond international accolades, SAHCO also received domestic commendation. The company, alongside its Assistant General Manager for Safety and Quality Assurance, Mrs. Christy Oseghale, was honoured at the 2025 Nigeria Safety and Security (NSAS) Awards and Lecture. The event, hosted by Safety and Security Watch (SSWatch) Magazine, marked the International Labour Organization’s World Day for Safety and Health.

Mrs. Oseghale earned the Special Safety Merit Award and was designated a “Safety Champion” for her efforts in instilling a safety-first mindset across SAHCO’s operations. “I’m deeply honoured by this recognition. At SAHCO, safety is non-negotiable. We strive to protect lives, assets, and processes using top-tier safety practices,” she said.

Managing Editor of SSWatch Magazine, Dr. Chinyere Amaechi, emphasized SAHCO’s industry impact. “SAHCO prioritizes safety in all areas of operation. Their extensive certifications and inclusive culture make them a standout player in Nigeria’s aviation sector,” she remarked.

These milestones reflect SAHCO’s growing role in shaping safety culture and ensuring efficient ground operations in Nigerian aviation. From global partners like British Airways to national watchdogs like SSWatch, recognition continues to pour in for SAHCO’s operational consistency and safety standards.

With its continued success in achieving **British Airways Safety and Punctuality** goals and championing health and security standards, SAHCO PLC remains a top-tier force in Nigeria’s aviation ground handling services.
