“No individual is above the law, and safety in Nigeria’s aviation protocols is non-negotiable.”

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to investigate and prosecute popular Fuji musician, K1 De Ultimate following violation of aviation protocols.
This is in furtherance to a recent incident concerning a ValueJet flight. Simultaneously, the Authority has clarified that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu respects aviation protocols and has never interfered with its regulatory functions.
NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, confirmed both actions, noting that the August 5, 2025, incident involving K1 De Ultimate allegedly disrupted standard airline operations and may have breached the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023.
“In a letter to the Attorney-General and Inspector-General of Police, we have requested a full criminal investigation and prosecution in line with aviation laws and all other applicable statutes,” Achimugu stated.
“No individual is above the law, and safety in Nigeria’s aviation protocols is non-negotiable.”
He revealed that the Director General of Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, has issued an advisory to the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), urging them to place K1 De Ultimate on a temporary No-Fly List across all commercial carriers pending the outcome of investigations.
“This recommendation aligns with international standards aimed at safeguarding passengers, crew, and operational integrity,” Achimugu added.
Responding to online speculation that the Presidency may intervene on behalf of K1 De Ultimate, who is widely believed to have close ties to President Tinubu, Achimugu strongly refuted any such insinuation.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not abuse aviation protocols at any airport; safety and security are sacrosanct to him,” he said.
“He recognizes the regulatory authority of NCAA and has never interfered with our operations. In fact, the President has made aviation a cornerstone of his economic agenda, and the results are visible.”
Addressing public concerns, Achimugu stated: “The situation being discussed is not political. Attempts to politicize aviation protocols and safety are dangerous and must be avoided. Aviation laws are universal designed to protect everyone on board, irrespective of status.”
He emphasized that President Tinubu routinely submits to security procedures during airport operations, both domestically and internationally.
“No one is above the law, and that principle is foundational to the President’s leadership,” Achimugu affirmed.
He also referenced the earlier statement issued by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, which he said underscores the administration’s zero-tolerance stance on aviation protocol violations.
Achimugu urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow the ongoing investigations to conclude.
“As more evidence emerges, the appropriate authorities will act fairly and in line with the law. We must not mistake perception for reality,” he said.
The NCAA reiterated its commitment to protecting the safety, security, and reputation of Nigeria’s airspace and called for public support in upholding these standards.
