NiMet alerts the public about an approaching dust haze, anticipating reduced visibility due to suspended dust from the source region.

With winds favoring dust-haze propagation, NiMet’s statement, signed by GM/PR Muntari Yusuf Ibrahim, highlights the risk in Northern parts.

Stations in the source region report visibility between 800m and 6000m, with Chad expected to experience poor visibility in the next 24hrs.

Due to strong winds, dust suspension will reduce visibility in states like Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Potiskum, and Maiduguri within 24 hours.

NiMet advises the public to take precautions against suspended dust, especially people with respiratory ailments. The current weather poses health risks, it says.

Airline operators are urged to stay informed with NiMet’s weather reports for effective planning in their operations.

NiMet reassures ongoing weather monitoring, promising timely updates when necessary.
