The stage is fully set for the IFAIMA World Conference Abuja, which will take place from May 27 to 29, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. The global aviation community will converge on Nigeria’s capital to discuss innovations and developments in Aeronautical Information Management (AIM).
Chairman Local Organising Committee (Abuja 2025), Kabir Yahaya Gusau, said the event would draw between 250 to 270 participants from different continents. These professionals will deliberate on the latest approaches to ensure seamless, accurate, and efficient information flows that support global air traffic operations.
With the theme “Innovating for the Future of Aeronautical Information Management,” the conference aims to promote a safe, orderly, and expeditious airspace system globally. Gusau emphasized that the event would enhance collaboration between global aviation organizations and the International Federation of Aeronautical Information Management Association (IFAIMA).
“We are very grateful to the Federal Government and Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for their unwavering support,” he said. He also acknowledged aviation agencies including the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and Nigerian Immigration Service for facilitating preparations.
According to Gusau, the Nigerian Immigration Service ensured visa processing for foreign delegates was smooth, while logistics are in place to transport attendees from both Abuja and Lagos airports to the venue.
“The conference will also address challenges that arose during the shift from Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) to the broader AIM structure,” he said.
He added that this event is not only for aviation professionals but also a proud moment for all Nigerians. “We must all collaborate with our international guests to share experiences and build stronger aviation knowledge,” Gusau said.
Participants will benefit from expert presentations, open discussions, and networking sessions during the three-day event. It is expected to further drive innovation and unity across global aviation platforms.
Meanwhile, President of the International Federation of Aeronautical Information Management Association (IFAIMA), Ms Funmi Adeyemi, confirmed that Nigeria is fully prepared to host delegates from around the world.
Speaking in Lagos about the upcoming IFAIMA World Conference Abuja, she said this is the first time the conference will be held in the Western and Central African (WACAF) region. “We are making history, and all hands are on deck to ensure Abuja 2025 is a huge success,” Adeyemi remarked.
She also applauded the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency for helping achieve Quality Management Service (QMS) and AIS certification last year. “This was a crucial step towards transitioning fully from AIS to AIM,” Adeyemi noted.
She praised her colleagues for their resilience. “Despite the heavy workload, they delivered under pressure, and I am proud of their efforts,” she said.
Adeyemi pointed out that relying on manual processes is now outdated. “In today’s digital environment, countries have adopted System Wide Information Management (SWIM) for better results. Nigeria must accelerate its AIM projects,” she added.
On the importance of collaboration, she highlighted the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed between IFAIMA and other global aviation bodies. “These MoUs reinforce our shared goal of strengthening aviation safety and innovation worldwide,” she stated.
With detailed arrangements in place and anticipation rising, Abuja 2025 promises to be a milestone in global AIM conversations. Nigeria is positioning itself as a regional leader in aviation information management.
