
Managing Director Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, has received a prestigious fellowship award from Better Nigeria in Practice of Good Conduct. The award recognises integrity, ethical governance, and leadership in public service. It was presented at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, during activities marking the 2025 International Workers Day.
The event attracted several dignitaries including government officials, professionals, and members of the public. Organised by Observers Watch, the platform promotes values that uphold transparency, accountability, and developmental goals in public and private sectors.
Engr. Farouk was singled out for his transformative efforts at NAMA, a statement signed by Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Abdullahi Musa read. His administration has modernised Nigeria’s air navigation infrastructure and significantly enhanced service delivery standards. According to the organisers, he has also instilled professionalism and transparency across the agency.
A citation delivered at the ceremony highlighted achievements under Farouk’s leadership. These include operational upgrades, safety enhancements, and the deployment of advanced air traffic technologies. His conduct, the statement read, demonstrates a rare commitment to national service backed by strong ethical principles.
“Under his stewardship, NAMA has witnessed significant operational improvements, enhanced safety protocols, and implementation of cutting-edge air traffic technologies,” the citation stated.
In response, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar expressed appreciation for the honour and dedicated the award to NAMA staff. He praised their continuous efforts and affirmed that the award would further motivate the agency to achieve its goals.
