The Special Advisers and Special Assistants to Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have officially launched the Ministerial Aides Network (MANET).
The launch of the MANET marks a significant milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s governance structure.
Designed to foster collaboration, enhance inter-ministerial cooperation, and create a platform for knowledge sharing, MANET gives Special Advisers and Assistants to Ministers a collective voice and a stronger role in shaping national policies.  Nigeria, Brazil Forge New Air Links
By providing a structured forum for ministerial aides, the group helps bridge gaps between ministries, aligns strategies with national goals, and supports the effective delivery of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. NGF
MANET participants believe the platform could evolve into a policy-shaping body similar to the Governors’ Forum and the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, amplifying the influence of aides in governance outcomes.
The inaugural meeting of MANET, themed “Meet & Greet”, was held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, with 36 members in attendance.
The evening session, which began at 7:00 p.m., was moderated by Mr. Tunde Moshood of Aviation, Dr. Ololade Kehinde of Health and Social Welfare, and Mr. Niyi Fatogun of Aviation.
Together, they provided structure for what was described as a historic moment for political aides in Nigeria.
In his address, Mr. Fatogun, Special Adviser on Strategy to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, emphasised the importance of formalising the forum.
He likened MANET to established platforms such as the Governors’ Forum, noting that it could drive cooperation, knowledge exchange, and improved governance. His remarks earned applause and strong endorsement from attendees.
The highlight of deliberations was a proposed agenda item titled “MANET on the Go!”, which introduced discussions on nominating interim leadership.
However, members unanimously resolved to postpone elections until the next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2025, to allow inclusivity and broader participation.
Looking ahead, MANET intends to focus on capacity building, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives, while also encouraging inter-ministerial collaboration to avoid duplication of efforts.
Members agreed that the association will improve accountability, strengthen service delivery, and institutionalise the role of ministerial aides as critical players in Nigeria’s democratic process.
Just as the Governors’ Forum has become a strong voice in the country’s political system, MANET’s establishment signals a cultural shift that could redefine how governance is supported at the federal level.
As it prepares for its next meeting in October, expectations remain high that MANET will grow into a formidable institution, enhancing policy delivery and fostering administrative synergy for the greater good of the nation.
