Keyamo Implores Kano Government Collaboration for Improved Power at MAKIA Ahead of 2024 Hajj

Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, is actively engaging the Kano State Government to bolster power infrastructure at MAKIA, the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in readiness for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage.

Keyamo conveyed the urgency of installing a dedicated power line and acquiring two additional generating plants during a meeting with Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf.

A statement signed by Tunde Moshood, the Minister’s SA Media and Communications highlighted the three critical requests aimed at enhancing the efficiency and functionality of MAKIA. 

Governor Yusuf, represented by his deputy Aminu Abdulsalamu Gwarzo, pledged prompt attention to the Minister’s requests especially the power infrastructure at MAKIA. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to resolving disputes affecting MAKIA’s functionality, including those involving Skypower properties.

Following discussions, the Minister and the Governor’s representative toured MAKIA’s Hajj camp section, reaffirming the collaborative efforts between federal and state authorities to ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience.

Expressing gratitude for the hospitality and support extended by the Kano State government, Minister Keyamo reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to enhancing aviation infrastructure across Nigeria.

Keyamo was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Olubunmi Kuku, and some FAAN directors.

Also in the Minister’s entourage is the distinguished Senator representing Kano South Senatorial District, Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila.
