FG unveils Enhanced e-Passport facilities in Europe

The Nigerian government has launched advanced e-Passport facilities at select Embassies in Europe, inaugurating phase one in Rome, covering Spain, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.

The initiative streamlines Passport processing for Nigerians in the diaspora. Subsequently, Phase two of the roll out is scheduled to be implemented by the end of the week.

On November 6, 2023, Acting CG Caroline Adepoju, representing Minister Tunji-Ojo, stressed adherence to International Civil Aviation Organization standards.

Nigeria now stands as the first in Africa and fifth globally to adopt this technological advancement, earning international recognition.

Acting CGI Adepoju emphasized the e-Passport’s efficiency in reducing processing delays in Europe. Moreover, she urged applicants to use the online platform, ensuring NIN synchronization.

The upgraded e-Passport introduces three categories: 32-page Five-year validity, 64-page Five-year validity, and 64-page Ten-year validity (for adults).

She enjoined applicants with complaints to use the advertised channels for resolution to interact with the virtual assistant .

The inauguration event witnessed the presence of high-ranking immigration officials, representatives from the High Commission, Nigerians in Italy, and members of the diplomatic community.
