The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has signed a training Memorandum of Understanding with ATOM Training Services, Dubai. This FAAN aviation training partnership aims to improve capacity development and align personnel skills with international aviation standards.
The agreement was signed on July 22, 2025, in Dubai. FAAN’s Director of Human Resources and Administration, Dr. Luqman Emiola Olatunbosun, led the delegation. General and Accountable Manager of ATOM, Abdulla Almemari, represented the Dubai-based aviation training institute.
The MoU follows earlier strategic engagements held between both organisations this year. It is part of efforts to implement the six-point agenda of FAAN Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku.
The collaboration focuses on safety-critical areas such as air traffic management, emergency response, and regulatory compliance. FAAN will receive ICAO-compliant, role-specific training tailored to enhance workforce competence and operational efficiency.
During the visit, the FAAN team inspected ATOM’s facilities and held meetings with the institution’s leadership. Both parties finalised the terms of the MoU at the end of the tour.
FAAN expects the partnership to deliver structured training solutions to address key institutional gaps. It also supports the Authority’s strategy to raise service delivery benchmarks across Nigerian airports.
This FAAN aviation training partnership is central to the goals of FAAN’s Training Department. It will serve as a platform to upgrade knowledge and capabilities of airport personnel nationwide.
In her maiden speech as Managing Director, Mrs. Kuku declared that institutional growth depends on workforce capacity. She committed to strengthening human resources through local and international collaboration.
Since taking office on December 18, 2023, Mrs. Kuku has overseen the training of more than 3,000 FAAN staff. These include certifications in security, technical operations, customer service, and airport management.
The Authority sees global partnerships as essential for its long-term reform agenda. The ATOM collaboration reinforces FAAN’s efforts to become a knowledge-driven aviation agency.
ATOM Training Services is recognised for delivering internationally benchmarked aviation courses. Its curriculum complies with International Civil Aviation Organisation standards.
The new partnership will enhance FAAN’s ability to maintain safe, secure, and efficient airport operations across its network.
