Southeast Airports Regional Manager Mr. Hilary Umunna welcomed Enugu Air’s arrival. The flight landed March 28 at Akanu Ibiam International Airport. This development supports boosting activities in the region and making Enugu the preferred aviation hub for the region.
The airline will operate Embraer 170 aircraft one of which has already arrived. Umunna also serves as AIIA Enugu Airport Manager. He stressed this aligns with FAAN’s strategic goals.
“I welcome Enugu Air to our airport,” Umunna said. “Their operations enhance regional connectivity significantly.” He noted this strengthens Enugu as preferred aviation hub.
Furthermore, the manager highlighted expected economic benefits. “Passenger traffic will increase substantially,” he explained. “State and federal revenues will grow accordingly.”
Additionally, job creation will expand across aviation sectors. Umunna anticipates boosted trade and tourism activities. The airport completed necessary upgrades beforehand.
“Infrastructure improvements meet ICAO standards fully,” Umunna stated. “We enhanced ground handling and security systems.” Stakeholder coordination was also streamlined.
Previously as Calabar Airport Manager, Umunna launched Cally Air. He believes Enugu Air will replicate success. The carrier promises regional economic growth.
“Flights bring development opportunities,” Umunna emphasized. “This cements our aviation gateway status.” The airport continues facility upgrades.
Consequently, Akanu Ibiam Airport strengthens its regional position. More airlines may follow Enugu Air. The preferred aviation hub vision progresses steadily.
