Nigeria-UK travel connectivity has widened significantly following the activation of a bilateral interline agreement between Emirates and Air Peace, giving passengers seamless single-ticket access from Nigeria to London and beyond. The partnership allows travellers to book journeys operated by both airlines on one itinerary, with baggage checked through to final destinations on select routes. This development promises to simplify travel between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, one of the country’s busiest long-haul markets, while enhancing regional and global connectivity.
What the Emirates and Air Peace interline means for Nigerian travellers
The interline arrangement enables Air Peace passengers to connect into Emirates’ global network via Dubai, with access to London Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted airports. Offering multiple London gateways provides travellers with flexibility on arrival and expanded options for onward connections, making business trips, family visits, and student travel more convenient. For Emirates passengers, the agreement extends access beyond Nigeria’s 13 domestic cities already served by Air Peace. New regional destinations such as Banjul and Dakar via Abidjan, and Freetown and Monrovia via Accra, now benefit from improved connectivity, strengthening West Africa’s transport links.
The partnership between Emirates and Air Peace reinforces Lagos’ growing role as a regional transfer hub and establishes Air Peace as a strategic partner in regional connectivity. Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, highlighted the strategic significance of the interline.
“Enhancing our interline partnership with Air Peace allows us to expand our footprint across more of Africa, creating new opportunities for people to fly better with Emirates, while helping international tourists explore more of the region, via Lagos.”
Air Peace Chief Commercial Officer, Nowel Ngala, said the agreement aligns with the airline’s broader growth objectives.
“This interline agreement with Emirates represents a major step in Air Peace’s strategic vision to connect Africa more efficiently to global markets. By combining our strong regional presence with Emirates’ extensive international network, we are delivering seamless connectivity, improved travel experience, and greater access to key global destinations for African travellers.”
Currently, Emirates operates a Boeing 777-300ER on the Dubai-Lagos route and remains one of only two airlines providing First Class services into Nigeria. Air Peace, with a fleet exceeding 50 aircraft including Boeing 777s, 737s, and Embraer jets, operates an expanding domestic, regional, and international network, prioritising stronger intra-African connectivity. Tickets under the Emirates and Air Peace interline agreement are available via emirates.com, flyairpeace.com, and accredited travel agents.
For Nigerian travellers, the partnership fundamentally changes how they move between domestic airports, West Africa, the United Kingdom, and the wider global network. Passengers can now book a single itinerary covering both Air Peace and Emirates flights, removing the need for separate tickets and reducing the risk of missed connections. Additionally, baggage is through-checked to final destinations, allowing seamless travel without the inconvenience of collecting and re-checking luggage at transit points.
The arrangement also improves access to London, offering Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted as arrival points. This flexibility benefits a wide range of travellers, including business professionals, families, and students, while providing more convenient options for onward journeys within the UK. Beyond Nigeria, Emirates passengers can now connect via Air Peace to additional West African cities, including Banjul, Dakar, Freetown, and Monrovia, enhancing regional travel opportunities. By connecting through Dubai, Air Peace passengers gain access to Emirates’ global network across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas, making the hub a single, efficient gateway for long-haul travel.
The introduction of the interline agreement by Emirates and Air Peace also strengthens Nigeria’s position as a regional travel hub. It creates smoother connections for passengers across multiple airlines, enabling more efficient movement of people and goods between the country and key destinations in Europe and Africa. This partnership exemplifies how strategic airline collaborations can transform travel experiences while boosting economic and tourism opportunities.
It is important to note that the agreement is an interline, not a codeshare. Each airline continues to operate its own flights, schedules, and onboard service standards, with ticket conditions and baggage allowances applied according to the operating carrier. For Nigerian travellers seeking smoother journeys, more destination options, and improved connectivity, the Emirates and Air Peace interline agreement represents a meaningful upgrade to the travel experience.
