With the planned expansion of Manila Airport and tourism receipts exceeding expectations, ACMI services in the Philippines will play a crucial role in ensuring airlines can meet demand efficiently
Avion Express Philippines will launch Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) services to support airlines in managing seasonal capacity gaps and operational challenges. The introduction of ACMI services in the Philippines aims to provide airlines with flexible capacity solutions to meet growing passenger demand.
Avion Express Philippines is a subsidiary of the world’s largest ACMI provider, Avia Solutions Group.
The new ACMI provider is designed to meet the Philippines’ seasonal aircraft capacity needs. 2024 tourism revenue in the Philippines has surged past pre-pandemic levels, exceeding the estimated P600.01 billion in 2019 by 26.75%, with tourist arrivals registering 9.15% higher than 2023. However, this growth is tempered by significant challenges. The global supply chain crisis has led to a backlog of over 17,000 new aircraft, creating difficulties for airlines to meet growing demand and maximize potential revenues. Avion Express Philippines aims to bridge this gap by offering ACMI services in the Philippines that provide airlines with flexible capacity when needed.
“With the planned expansion of Manila Airport and tourism receipts exceeding expectations, ACMI services in the Philippines will play a crucial role in ensuring airlines can meet demand efficiently,” said Chairman Avia Solutions Group, Gediminas Ziemelis. “Our model allows airlines to scale operations during peak seasons, improve profitability by 2-3%, and mitigate the impact of market fluctuations. Avion Express Philippines is here to support the aviation sector’s growth with reliable, on-demand capacity.”
Chief Executive Officer Avion Express Philippines, Rene Banzon, emphasized the strategic benefits of ACMI services in the Philippines. “The introduction of ACMI services in the Philippines opens new possibilities for airlines, allowing them to optimize operations, explore new routes, and enhance passenger experiences. We are excited to contribute to the growth and modernization of the industry.”
The event gathered executives from major Philippine airlines, including Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific Air (CEB), and Philippine AirAsia, alongside key government representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), and the Department of Transportation (DOTr). The attendance of these stakeholders underscores the strategic importance of ACMI services in the Philippines in strengthening the country’s aviation landscape.
In preparation for its official launch, Avion Express Philippines is working closely with CAAP and CAB to complete regulatory requirements for its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN). The company also inaugurated its corporate headquarters in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Metro Manila, on the same day as the event, with key executives from Avia Solutions Group and Avion Express Philippines in attendance.
