Ethiopian Airlines has announced the resumption of its direct service to Atlanta, marking a key milestone in its network recovery. The Atlanta route will restart on May 21, 2026, after a temporary suspension in February. Meanwhile, the return of Atlanta flights strengthens links between Africa and the United States for business and leisure travellers.
The renewed Atlanta service will reconnect Addis Ababa Bole International Airport with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. This development offers improved flexibility and seamless connections across Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive African network. In addition, passengers travelling through Atlanta will gain easier access to destinations across the southeastern United States.
Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Mesfin Tasew, highlighted the importance of the route within the airline’s global strategy. He described it as a vibrant market with strong demand from business travellers and the African diaspora. Therefore, the resumption of flights aligns with Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to reconnecting key international routes.
Atlanta remains a major economic and cultural hub in the United States, hosting one of the largest African diaspora populations. The restored service is expected to boost travel demand and facilitate trade, tourism and cultural exchange. Meanwhile, Ethiopian Airlines continues to position the route as a strategic gateway linking Africa with North America.
Ethiopian Airlines currently operates several routes across the United States, reinforcing its transatlantic footprint. The return of flights further strengthens its role as a bridge between continents. In addition, the airline continues to expand its network in line with long-term growth plans and rising passenger demand.
Tickets for the route are available via Ethiopian Airlines’ official channels, including its website and mobile platforms. Travellers can also book through global ticket offices and authorised agents. Therefore, the resumption ensures that the restarted route remains a key destination within Ethiopian Airlines’ expanding international network.
