Air Peace prioritizes safety as it responded to a recent advisory from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to improve domestic operations. The airline acknowledged the NCAA’s consistent regulatory efforts and affirmed its full support for safety oversight in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Air Peace stated it holds the NCAA in high esteem, recognizing the authority’s role in promoting safety and compliance among local airlines. Nonetheless, the airline stressed the importance of clarifying certain public statements that might misrepresent its operational capacity and intentions.
According to the airline’s management, its unwavering commitment to passenger safety is the reason behind any delays or cancellations. “We empathize with our passengers when plans are disrupted. However, every delay or cancellation is based on genuine safety concerns,” the airline stated.
They emphasized that safety protocols determine flight status, whether related to weather conditions, technical checks, or operational risks.
The airline reiterated that if conditions fall short of acceptable safety thresholds, they will not operate a flight—regardless of public expectations.
In particular, Air Peace refuted a statement reportedly attributed to the NCAA suggesting it should reduce operational scale to match aircraft availability.
While acknowledging the NCAA’s concern, the airline clarified it has sufficient aircraft beyond those actively deployed daily.
Hence, recent flight disruptions are not due to fleet shortages but rather unforeseen safety-related factors, the airline explained.
An example provided involved an aircraft that suffered a bird strike while landing in Enugu, resulting in significant engine damage.
The affected aircraft had been scheduled to cover multiple routes, causing unavoidable service delays across those schedules.
“Such events, although rare, are beyond the control of any airline and demand immediate grounding for proper safety checks,” Air Peace added.
The management also emphasized that every decision taken since inception—whether delays or cancellations—has always been grounded in safety.
They insisted that protecting lives overrides other considerations like profitability, speed, or passenger convenience.
“No flight is delayed or cancelled without valid reasons. When it happens, the financial loss is ours, but we prioritize life,” the statement continued.
The airline declared that safety was not just a slogan but the very foundation of all its operations and decision-making processes.
“We remain focused on serving our passengers with professionalism, respect, and strict adherence to safety protocols,” the airline concluded. By reasserting its position, Air Peace prioritizes safety as a non-negotiable value in the face of operational pressures or public criticism.
