In celebration of its 10th anniversary, West Africa’s largest carrier, Air Peace Limited, hosted the much-anticipated October Fest. The thrilling sports festival, designed to foster unity, camaraderie, and team spirit, ultimately concluded in spectacular fashion on October 20, 2024. Moreover, the event, which showcased the “October Fest football tournament,” became a key highlight of the airline’s decade-long success.
The football tournament, featuring eight male teams and two female teams, kicked off on August 31, 2024. Notably, teams such as BUU Shooters, BVE Rangers, BQQ Warriors, BUO Army, BWI Wanderers, BYJ Rovers, BXG Gunners, and BQV Invaders competed in the male category. Similarly, in the female category, BUJ Amazons and BYF Angels battled it out. Teams from across Air Peace’s sub-Saharan network gathered to compete, thereby strengthening bonds among staff. After weeks of fierce competition, the finals provided a fitting conclusion to the tournament’s excitement.
The male final between BQQ Warriors and BXG Gunners ended 1-1 after regular time, with BXG Gunners triumphing. Meanwhile, in the female category, BUJ Amazons secured a thrilling victory over BYF Angels through a penalty shootout. As a result, financial rewards were given to the winners, runners-up, and second runners-up in both categories. This significantly enhanced the celebratory atmosphere and added excitement to the overall event.
In his address, Air Peace CEO Dr. Allen Onyema emphasized that the October Fest football tournament represents more than competition. “This festival celebrates our team’s resilience and togetherness, which have been crucial to Air Peace’s growth.”
His remarks further emphasized the festival’s role in unifying the staff and showcasing their shared accomplishments.
In addition, the festival rewarded employees with exciting prizes, including international flight tickets, household appliances, and cash gifts. Thus, this marked the beginning of a memorable celebration of Air Peace’s decade of excellence.
