Following attacks by bandits at the Ilela border of Sokoto where two officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service ( NIS) were killed leaving four seriously wounded, Acting Comptroller General of the Service, Wuraola Adepoju has assured the families of the deceased of support.
This is just as she has expressed that the Service will take care of the medical expenses of the injured officers, according to a statement made available by Service PRO, Dr. Dotun Aridegbe.
The unfortunate attack happened on an immigration checkpoint in Gwadabawa area, Sokoto late July
Reports had it that the gunmen suspected to be Bandits attacked the Mamman Suka village checkpoint of the Gwadabawa Local Government area and killed the two immigration officers and injured four others who were rushed to Usman Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital Sokoto.
Acting Comptroller General of the Service, Wuraola Adepoju who expressed sadness at the situation, saluted the courage of the men.
The Ag. CGI who also condoled with the family of deceased officers assured them that the service will be with them at this trying time.
The Acting Comptroller General NIS, who had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the governor of Sokoto State Alhaji Aliyu Sokoto expressed the readiness of the service to discharge its duties irrespective of the challenges they face.
She assured the governor that the NIS will continue to man the nation’s borders and put in place strategies to stop the inflow of irregular migrants.
She was accompanied on the trip by the Sokoto state NIS Comptroller, as well as his FCT counterpart Comptroller Tony Akuneme
