The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched a probe into a major train derailment.
 The incident occurred today, August 26, 2025, on the Kaduna-bound service at KM 49.
 It happened between Kubwa and Asham Stations at approximately 11:09 A.M. This train derailment has prompted a swift response.
A go-team has been deployed to the site of the train derailment. Their mission is to collect crucial evidence and speak with stakeholders.

NSIB Responds to the Derailment

In a press release, NSIB Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji, confirmed injuries. 
Six people were hurt, but thankfully, there were no fatalities. The NSIB will issue safety recommendations based on its findings.
This will help prevent future accidents on Nigerian railways.
Director General of NSIB, Captain Alex Badeh Jr., spoke on the matter. “We deeply sympathise with all who sustained injuries,” he said. 
He emphasized the bureau’s commitment to a transparent and independent investigation. 
The goal is to ensure a safer rail system for all Nigerians.
